Car Dealership AV: Showroom Displays, Service Waiting Areas, Digital Menu Boards & Customer Lounge Technology

April 30, 2026 2 min read

Car dealerships are in the experience business as much as the car business. The customer’s perception of your dealership — built over hours spent in the showroom, finance office, and service waiting area — directly influences CSI scores, repeat business, and referrals. AV technology shapes that perception at every touchpoint.

The Penn Group installs AV systems for automotive dealerships across seven states. Here’s what modern dealership AV looks like.

Showroom Digital Displays

Showroom displays bring inventory to life. Large-format screens next to featured vehicles show 360-degree views, configuration options, comparison data, and financing information. Video walls in the showroom entrance create brand impact and showcase the full lineup. Interactive kiosks let customers browse inventory, build configurations, and schedule test drives independently.

Service Waiting Areas

The service waiting area is where customers spend the most time — and where impressions are formed. A properly equipped service lounge includes entertainment displays (sports, news, streaming content), a background music system, and digital signage showing service progress updates so customers know when their vehicle is ready without walking to the service desk. Many premium dealerships now offer lounge-quality experiences with individual charging stations, coffee bar displays, and kids’ entertainment zones.

Service Department Digital Menu Boards

Digital menu boards in the service drive and write-up area display service packages, pricing, current promotions, and wait times. These boards are updated remotely, allowing the service manager to adjust pricing and promotions instantly without printing new signage. Seasonal campaigns (tire changes, winter packages, summer cooling checks) rotate automatically on schedule.

Investment Ranges

A showroom digital display package (6-10 screens with content management) runs $20,000 to $60,000. Service waiting area AV (entertainment, signage, audio) runs $15,000 to $40,000. Service department digital menu boards run $8,000 to $25,000.
