The Penn Group recently had the opportunity to partner with COSI Columbus to support and elevate their Science Meets Society event series — a community-focused initiative designed to bring scientific conversation, education, and engagement directly into the heart of the Columbus community.
Our role was to ensure these events were not only experienced live with excellence but also captured professionally for future distribution, enabling COSI to extend the impact of the series beyond each venue’s walls.
Scope of Work
To execute this multi-event partnership, The Penn Group provided an end-to-end live production solution, including:
- Multi-camera systems for dynamic coverage of speakers, panelists, and audience interactions.
- Professional lighting design and fixtures optimized for both live visibility and high-quality recorded footage.
- Full audio reinforcement and capture, including wireless microphones, panel audio, ambient capture, and recording feeds.
- Live video production, switching, graphics integration, and real-time monitoring.
- Rental coordination, ensuring all supplemental gear and venue-specific solutions were delivered seamlessly.
- Event capture for up to six COSI events across various locations throughout Columbus.
Each production was engineered to be portable, scalable, and responsive to the unique layout and requirements of each venue.

Working closely with the COSI team, The Penn Group developed a consistent production workflow that could be replicated across multiple events while retaining the flexibility needed for diverse locations.
Our production team managed:

- On-site setup and calibration of all AV systems
- Live show calling, switching, and monitoring
- Multitrack audio and isolated camera recording
- Strike, equipment reset, and transport for the next event
